Waterslide Decals are paper thin stickers.
Decal is intended to decorate and / or personalize articles / objects.

You can print decals yourself using a laser printer.
The material has many possibilities and is almost invisible when applied.

Decal is often used to personalize nails, glasses, mugs, model making, racing bikes, fishing rods, scooters, mirrors, glass blocks, painted scaffolding wood and many more decorative objects.
Decal can also be applied and baked on glass or ceramic.

Waterslide decals are perhaps best known as stickers on model building kits. It is a very thin sticker, which is unloaded and placed by placing it in the water. Can be used on almost all non-porous surfaces including glass, ceramic, metal, plastic and (lacquered) wood, but can also be used on candles. Waterslide decals should for most applications be enclosed in a layer of lacquer (acrylic clear coat). This is because it has no permanent bond of its own and has of a fragile nature.

The decals can be baked on glass, ceramics and metal, so it makes them harder and more resistant. Raw decal sheets are suitable for almost all desktop laser printers, which can handle a bit thicker paper (about 160 grams). These decal sheets can also be used with a Solvent, UV ink and Latex printer and with Microdry printers, such as the Alps.

Decals are:

  • for decorative purposes only (unless finished in a suitable paint finish);
  • not food safe (so not for direct contact with food);
  • available in 4 thicknesses (extra thin - 5µ, thin - 8µ, standard - 13µ, premium - 18µ), 2 variants (clear and white), 2 different carrier colors (white and blue) and 2 sizes (A4 & A3);
  • with a blue backing (blue backing) best suited for use in printers, which can print white. Otherwise, use white backing decals.

Four Thicknesses .. Which Should I Choose?
There are 4 different thicknesses available, so there is something for everyone and the choice is personal. The standard of 13µ (µ = Micron) is the standard for a reason and this is actually the most common thickness, which is easy to use. The extra thin 5µ and thin 8µ version is for the demanding user, but it is more fragile and difficult to process. Premium decals of 18µ are especially very sturdy and less fragile, making them very suitable for large decals and fast processors.

Are you using decals for the first time?
We advise you to start with the standard thickness of 13µ.

Samsung laser printers from the SL-C4xxW series, do not seem to be able to process the decal paper !!

Be careful with photo printers and production printers. These printers require more knowledge from the user to achieve a good result. Incorrect use can even damage the machine.
